Dr Joshua Hurwitz
MBBS, MPHtm, FRACP
Josh is a Medical Oncologist with extensive experience in diagnosing and managing various oncological conditions. He has a special interest in breast, genitourinary, skin and colorectal cancers and a passion for clinical trials and education.
Josh currently holds a public appointment at Monash Health. He also works in various regional settings, including Goulbourn Valley Health and Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre. Josh is committed to facilitating trial access to regional patients through the regional metro model.
Josh completed his oncology training in the South West Sydney Local Health District and St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. He then undertook further specialization in breast and genitourinary cancer with a prestigious fellowship at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and The Kinghorn Cancer Centre in Sydney, Australia, under the mentorship of Professor Elgene Lim and Professor Anthony Joshua. In 2023, he was admitted as a fellow at the Royal Australian College of Physicians.
Josh’s medical expertise spans fifteen years within the Australian healthcare system, where he has worked in three different states at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Monash Health, and Barwon Health. His international exposure includes an observership at the Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Josh’s guiding principles for oncological care come from an evidence-based approach that utilizes the latest trials, technology and innovations to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to every patient. He is the co-host of the internationally acclaimed podcast “Oncology for the Inquisitive Mind” which has a viewership that spans 140 countries.
In what little time he does not spend working, researching, or podcasting, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter and dabbling in musical and photography interests.
